By Heal and Son, attributed, an oak armchair aligned to the Arts and Crafts movement (1880–1910), 1905, from a British domestic interior. The tall upright back carries a rectangular upholstered panel below a shaped top rail, the crest pierced with linked heart and scroll motifs that introduce a gentle decorative rhythm without disturbing the simple outline.
The seat and back are upholstered in green leather, fixed with a neat run of studs that emphasise the rectangular panels. Straight arms run forward on square supports, meeting a six-legged underframe with side and front stretchers that contribute to the chair’s sturdy stance. consistent with early twentieth-century Heal and Son Arts and Crafts furniture designed for practical everyday use in a dining room, hall or study.
