Pair of oak side chairs from the Vienna Secession period (1900–1910), c.1900. Each chair features a rectilinear back with three vertical ebonised spindles, curving gently towards the top rail. The pierced diamond inlay to each back adds a restrained decorative touch, typical of the Viennese interpretation of geometric modernism. The solid oak frames are of fine quality and have been reupholstered in hand-dyed brown leather, carefully finished to a high standard.
