Charles Bevan, In the Style of – Gothic Revival Oak Bedside Cabinet with Inlay

An oak bedside cabinet aligned to the Gothic Revival (c.1840–1890), in the style of Charles Bevan. The rectangular case stands on short shaped feet with a scalloped lower frieze. The front has a single panelled door beneath a broad moulded top. Chevron inlaid details accent throughout, giving a crisp graphic border to the door and frame.

The side panels are boarded on the bias at 45 degrees, setting a diagonal figure that plays against the chevron inlay. The scale is compact for bedside use, with a simple metal drop handle and neat proportions that read clearly from all angles. Surfaces show a tidy workshop finish and an even colour across the oak. The vocabulary of geometric inlay, panelled construction and firm outline sits within late Victorian Gothic taste.
