Mid-Century Modern – French Concrete Hourglass Planter on Stand (c.1960)

£700

A Mid-Century Modern French concrete two-piece planter and stand of hourglass form, c.1960, with light even patina and minimalist architectural profile.

This concrete planter with stand was made in France during the Mid-Century Modern period (1945–1970), embodying the sculptural simplicity characteristic of post-war garden design. Formed as a two-part composition, the upper bowl rests on an hourglass pedestal, its continuous profile creating a unified silhouette of balanced proportion.

The surface shows a light natural patina, enhancing the tactile quality of the aggregate and softening the geometry of the form. Such planters reflected the era’s fascination with organic modernism, integrating architectural and natural elements within exterior spaces.
