Royal Doulton Lambeth Gothic Revival a Comical Jug with Scenes of a Drunk Monk | Dickinson's Real Deal

£450 £360

A Royal Doulton Lambeth Gothic Revival comical jug depicting a monk in three scenes eating his dinner and getting rather drunk. In the first scene, his plate is full, and he's beginning to eat the roast chicken and drink. There is a bird to the lower left side and a flagon of Mead to the right. The second scene shows him halfway through his dinner, looking rather happy and enjoying himself with the flagon. In the third scene, he has finished his meal and is nodding off, rather drunk from polishing off the flagon, which is laying on its side. The bird has now jumped up onto the table and is finishing off the scraps. Tony Geering bought this on Dickinson's Real Deal.
