Hukin & Heath was a prominent British silversmith and electroplate manufacturer based in Birmingham, active from the mid-19th century into the early 20th century. Established in 1855 by Jonathan Wilson Hukin and John Thomas Heath, the firm became known for its innovative and stylish domestic wares in silver, electroplate, and glass. Hukin & Heath gained particular distinction through their collaboration with Dr. Christopher Dresser, one of the earliest and most influential industrial designers. Under Dresser’s influence, the firm produced bold, modern designs that emphasized form and function, often ahead of their time. These included teapots, claret jugs, and other household items with clean lines, geometric forms, and minimal ornament. Hukin & Heath’s work reflects a unique fusion of Victorian craftsmanship and progressive design thinking, and many of their pieces are now considered icons of British modernism. Their maker's mark, typically “H&H,” is widely recognized by collectors of Arts and Crafts and Aesthetic Movement metalwork.
