British, c.1930. A small open light oak bookcase of simple geometric form. The design is clean and functional, with four fixed shelves set between chamfered uprights and a stepped top section. Its restrained outline reflects the early Modernist approach to domestic furniture emerging in Britain during the inter-war years, emphasising practicality and unadorned construction.
