Arts and Crafts brass lamp with floral stem and heart pierced base c.1900
£1,200
This table lamp in brass sits within the Arts & Crafts (1880–1910) tradition, c.1900, English. A circular base is pierced with a ring of hearts, the stem rising as a cluster of leaf like lobes that gather into a bud beneath the gallery. It stands 17 inches high, a practical table scale for a writing desk, bedside or hall table where a close pool of light is useful.
The vocabulary is drawn from botanical forms common to turn of the century metalwork, the mass handled as a set of swelling leaves that spring from the base and taper toward the neck. Piercing lightens the footprint and reads clearly in silhouette, while the rounded feet and soft curves give the piece an easy stance.
