An English Arts & Crafts large copper candlestick with red enamel heart and tree decoration and kissing love doves to the triangular base.

Beautiful original chocolate patina to the copper and vivid red colour to the enamels all in perfect condition.

Rathbone was an art metal worker, a teacher, and a designer. He trained with W. A. S. Benson in London then went on to set up a workshop in 1890. He produced pieces there until the early 1900s when he became head of the Sir John Cass Institute in London. He was made an Honorary member of Sandon Studio Society in Liverpool in 1908 and was Chairman of the London County Council Consultative Committee on silversmithing.
