E. W. Godwin Attributed, Pair of Oak Aesthetic Movement Dining Chairs

Attributed to Edward William Godwin, this pair of dining chairs in oak aligned to the Aesthetic Movement (1860–1890), c.1880.

The chairs have carved floret decoration to the headrests, with a rectangular open back above a row of ebonised turned spindles. The front legs are turned and ring-moulded, set on castors, while the rear legs continue upward to form the back uprights. The chair frames are ready for upholstery and sold as a set of two.
