A Continental Fruitwood Sidechair
POA
This Continental fruitwood side chair, early twentieth century, is designed with a tall back pierced with geometric cut-outs and a central heart motif. The square legs are joined by stretchers with shaped openings, adding subtle decoration to the simple frame. The seat is upholstered in fabric and finished with brass studding. Combining vernacular tradition with early modernist influence, the chair reflects the Continental approach to natural materials and restrained ornament within domestic furniture design of the period.
