This teak bookcase was made during the Mid-Century Modern period (1945–1970), reflecting the minimalist design sensibility that defined post-war interiors. The tall rectangular frame stands on a plinth base and is fitted with five fixed shelves, the uppermost set back slightly to create a gentle variation in depth.

Constructed in solid teak, the bookcase demonstrates the period’s focus on functional proportion. The vertical grain of the sides complements the horizontal shelving, achieving an understated balance of light and structure.
