Slender Five Shelf Arts and Crafts Bookcase with Through Peg Joints c.1900

£750

This slender Arts and Crafts five-shelf bookcase embodies the honesty of construction central to the Arts and Crafts movement 1880–1910. Built in solid hardwood with through peg joints and exposed tenons, it celebrates functional structure over ornament.

The narrow vertical design, likely made for a domestic study, combines practicality with simple geometry. Each shelf is secured by visible pegs, showing the maker’s craft and the integrity of the material. Retaining a warm hand-polished surface.
