Arts and Crafts Oak Hall Mirror with Stylised Brass Coat Hooks c.1900

POA

This Arts and Crafts oak hall mirror was produced around 1900 and demonstrates the practical elegance of domestic Arts and Crafts furniture. The rectangular bevelled mirror is framed in solid quarter-sawn oak, flanked by stylised brass coat hooks and a gently arched cresting rail.

The brass hooks add a restrained decorative accent while remaining functional, and the hand-finished oak retains its warm, natural patina.

Such mirrors were often made by smaller regional workshops inspired by the ideals of Morris and the Guild of Handicraft, celebrating craftsmanship through simplicity and proportion.
