Dryad of Leicester c.1920 Pair of Wicker Armchairs – Arts and Crafts Design

£2,800 / set

Dryad of Leicester, c.1920. A fine pair of wicker armchairs by the pioneering British firm Dryad, specialists in bentwood and cane furniture. Each chair features a gracefully curved back flowing into the continuous arms and seat rails, the whole supported by simple block legs joined with stretchers. The design embodies the firm’s approach to honest craftsmanship and natural material expression within the Arts and Crafts Movement. The surfaces show the warm patina and subtle colour variation characteristic of early woven cane furniture.
