Shelf cabinet in walnut, in the style of E. W. Godwin, aligned to the Aesthetic Movement (1860–1890), 1880, British. The piece is composed of a sloped upper cupboard with a brass ring handle, a central two-door cupboard with brass hinges and fittings, projecting side shelves and an open lower shelf section.
The form is shallow, tiered and architectural. The upper box rises at an angle above the main cupboard, while the side shelves extend the horizontal line across the front. Below, the open shelf and shaped apron give the cabinet a lighter base, balancing enclosed storage with display space.
