By Liberty & Co, an armchair in oak aligned to the Arts and Crafts movement (1880–1910), c.1895. The back features three shaped vertical slats around a central roundel within square uprights. A four-part hand-rushed seat sits over turned front legs with ring turnings; the back legs are gently splayed and the frame is braced by front, rear and two side stretchers for strength. The flat, gently profiled arms and honest joinery embody Liberty’s practical domestic seating for late-Victorian interiors.

Seat height: 30 cm, arm height: 50 cm.
