Liberty & Co., Attributed – Arts and Crafts Walnut Armchair with Heart Inlays
£1,800
By Liberty & Co., attributed, an armchair in walnut aligned to the Arts and Crafts movement (1880–1910), c.1905. The rectilinear frame carries a gently arched crest, a tapered central splat and narrow uprights. Petite heart and floral inlays accent the crest, splat and lower back rail. Shaped arms, a trapezoidal seat with leather pad and a square stretchered base give a light, purposeful profile suited to a dining or occasional setting.
The combination of rectilinear framing with small-scale marquetry hearts and foliate motifs, a vocabulary widely seen on Liberty furniture of the early 1900s.
