Shapland & Petter – Arts and Crafts Oak Tub Chair (20 in stock)
£750 / item
Shapland and Petter
Tub chair in oak, aligned to the Arts and Crafts movement (1880–1910), c.1910. The compact tub form with enclosed arms suits a study or hall setting. A notable construction detail is the pair of back legs set at 45 degrees to the front, giving the frame a quiet stability within a simple rectilinear plan. The shaped solid seat and shaped headrest provide measured comfort without ornament, consistent with British vernacular tendencies within Arts and Crafts.
From a long run and sold individually, 20 left in stock, the model reads as a modest workshop chair that serves institutional and domestic uses with honest construction and clear structural expression. Proportions suit desk, library, or hallway placement.
