Thonet – Vienna Secession beech bentwood settee with caned seat and back
£2,800
By Thonet, a beech bentwood settee aligned to the Vienna Secession (1897–1918), c.1900. The light, steam-bent frame flows into pronounced scrolls at the arms and an openwork back with twin oval caned panels. The seat is caned to match, and the underframe includes a shaped bent stretcher that stiffens the slender legs. The whole reads as a textbook expression of Secessionist line and economy of structure.
