Collinson and Lock (Attributed) – Aesthetic Movement Walnut Centre Table
£2,800
Centre table in walnut, attributed to Collinson and Lock, from the Aesthetic Movement (1860–1890), c.1880. The circular top rests on turned legs incised with circular motifs, joined by double cross stretchers that create a balanced open structure. The form combines simplicity of line with restrained geometric decoration, characteristic of Collinson and Lock’s refined workshop practice during the later Aesthetic period.
The firm, founded by F. G. Collinson and G. J. Lock, was among London’s most prominent furniture makers of the late nineteenth century, producing work that bridged the Aesthetic and emerging Arts and Crafts movements. This table reflects the firm’s commitment to honest joinery and proportion, with decorative detail integrated into the structural rhythm rather than applied ornamentation.
