Edward Barnsley – Cotswold School Walnut Stool with Original Tapestry Seat

POA

By Edward Barnsley, a walnut stool aligned to the Arts and Crafts movement (1880–1910), c.1920, within the Cotswold School tradition. The rectangular frame has gently arched aprons and slim legs that taper to the floor, a spare profile that favours line and proportion over applied ornament. The seat retains its original tapestry; the underside is stamped Barnsley. The combination of careful hand shaping, clean junctions and restrained curvature is characteristic of early twentieth-century Cotswold work from the Barnsley circle, marrying utility with finely judged craft.
