Heal’s attributed – Arts and Crafts Oak Three-tier Book Table
£550
By Heal’s of London (attributed), book table in oak aligned to the late Arts and Crafts movement (1880–1910), c.1930. The compact stand is set on four straight uprights with gentle arrises, supporting an octagonal top and three fixed shelves. Slender shaped brackets beneath each shelf add stiffness and a light architectural rhythm.
quarter-sawn stock. A practical wotnot for books or display, sized for a hallway, sitting room or beside a reading chair.
The octagonal top, chunky square uprights and under-shelf brackets correspond to Heal’s London catalogued wotnots of the 1920s–30s, and the restrained, utility-first treatment of oak is characteristic of the firm’s late Arts and Crafts output.
