Aesthetic Movement – Ebonised Tile-Top Side Table with Floral Design (c.1880)
£360
An Aesthetic Movement style ebonised side table with floral tile top and under-shelf, c.1880, showing a fine crack across the ceramic surface.
This ebonised side table from the Aesthetic Movement (1860–1900) incorporates a hand-painted ceramic tile top decorated with a floral design in vivid natural tones. The table stands on four slender square legs joined by a low shelf and stretchers, the dark finish framing the polychrome surface with refined contrast.
A fine crack runs through the tile but remains stable and intact, retaining both form and decorative integrity. The piece reflects the movement’s interest in colour harmony, natural motifs, and domestic artistry.
