Liberty & Co., Attributed – Large Octagonal Arts & Crafts Oak Side Table

POA

A large oak side table, Arts and Crafts movement, attributed to Liberty & Co., c.1895. Octagonal top with Moorish arch detailing and undershelf stretcher.

This oak side table, attributed to Liberty & Co. and produced during the Arts and Crafts movement (1880–1910), reflects the firm’s interest in geometry and subtle Moorish influence. The octagonal top rests on chamfered supports, joined by an arched undershelf stretcher that reinforces the structure and introduces a sense of rhythm. Such detailing aligns with Liberty’s early commissions promoting craftsmanship and the integration of Eastern motifs within English design.

The c.1895 date situates the table at the height of the movement’s popularity, when oak was favoured for its durability and natural grain. The surface retains an even tone, the condition stated as good.
