Liberty & Co., c.1890. A set of four walnut dining chairs designed with turned front legs, slatted backrests, and shaped seat rails. The simplicity of line and solid joinery reflect the firm’s early Arts and Crafts ethos, balancing lightness of form with honest material expression. These chairs exemplify Liberty & Co.’s craftsmanship during the late nineteenth century, when the company promoted handmade furniture inspired by the ideals of the Arts and Crafts Movement.
