Shapland and Petter – Arts and Crafts Mahogany Plant Stand with Pierced Panels
£950
By Shapland and Petter, a mahogany plant stand aligned to the Arts and Crafts movement (1880–1910), c.1900–1905. The square frame rises on elongated uprights capped with turned disc finials, each side set with a pierced roundel; a lower shelf braces the legs and provides extra display. The combination of disc-topped posts and decorative cut-pierced panels is a documented S&P house vocabulary, seen on period plant stands and hall furniture. The crisp, regular piercings also reflect S&P’s mechanised Barnstaple workshops, where machine-cut components were hand-finished to a high standard
