Vaseline Glass Shade with Flowing Decoration c.1900
£440
Glass shade in Vaseline glass, of the Arts and Crafts Movement (1880–1910). Hand-blown and finished with flowing opaline decoration that descends in undulating bands from the neck to the rim. The surface carries a soft iridised sheen, the pale yellow-green tone glowing gently when lit.
The broad flared base and rounded body produce a balanced silhouette, suitable for pendant or wall fittings with a 2 3/16 inch collar. The combination of form, light and subtle iridescence reflects the late nineteenth-century fascination with natural optical effects, a hallmark of Arts and Crafts glassmaking.
