Glasgow School Oak Hallstand with Curved and Slatted Sides c.1905
£1,750
Glasgow School oak hallstand produced around c.1905, representing the mature phase of the Arts and Crafts Movement (1880–1910) as expressed through the restrained geometry of Glasgow design. The piece exemplifies the union of practicality and architectural form central to the movement’s domestic furnishings.
Constructed in solid oak, the tall frame is defined by an arched mirror over a shallow central shelf, supported by open side panels composed of vertical slats that curve elegantly toward the base. The upper section is fitted with hand-forged iron coat hooks, their subtle scrollwork providing a sculptural counterpoint to the linear frame.
