Lounge chair in ebonised walnut, attributed to E. W. Godwin and aligned to the Aesthetic Movement (1860–1890), 1870–1879.

An Anglo-Japanese ebonised walnut armchair with rounded arms that follow down to the original brass castors. The inside of the arms carries Greek key detailing, set within the open side structure of the chair.

The double central stretchers unite with the leg stretchers, giving the chair a clear architectural frame beneath the upholstered seat. The brass and ceramic castors remain part of the original arrangement
