A Liberty & Co., Arts and Crafts oak Overmantel or hanging bookshelf, with Motto by Sir Francis Bacon: - 'READING MAKETH A FULL MAN' 'WRITING MAKETH AN EXACT MAN'. With a green bottle glass door to the upper right-hand side and a long bookshelf to the left with a further adjustable shelf below.
The full quote written by Bacon back in the 1500s is actually "Reading makes a full man; conference a ready man; and writing an exact man." I guess there's just not enough room for the whole quote :)
