Strombergshyttan – Small Glass Vase Model H92, Sweden (c.1950)
£150
Glass vase by Strombergshyttan, Sweden, Mid-century Scandinavian design, c.1950, Model H92, with clear base and smokey overlay.
This glass vase, produced by Strombergshyttan in Sweden c.1950, is identified as Model H92 and reflects the refinement of Mid-century Scandinavian design. The form is a compact square cylinder, the glass thick at the base and gradually lightening toward the rim.
The body shows Strombergshyttan’s signature double-layered glasswork, where a softly tinted smokey grey inner casing is encased in a clear outer layer. This technique creates subtle optical depth and magnifies internal reflections. The base is polished and slightly concave, engraved Stromberg H92.
Such restrained forms were characteristic of Swedish post-war glasshouses, where clarity, proportion, and light interplay replaced decorative cutwork. Model H92 embodies this principle with its precise geometry and gentle tonal gradation.
