Thonet, a Bentwood Chaise Lounge with Wonderful Scroll Work Details & Cane Work

£2,500

Thonet. A bentwood chaise lounge with wonderful scroll work details and cane work supports.

Stamped to the base with serial number and A Gaiffe Paris as well as his logo.

Adolphe Gaiffe was a french inventor and manufacturer of electrical and therapeutic instruments. He operated from Paris, rue Saint Andre des Arts. The chaise lounge bears his name as well as his logo that you can see on the last photo taken from one of his catalog. Although uncertain, it is likely Gaiffe distributed and sold Thonet's chaise lounge to his patients as a therapeutic device.
