W. A. S. Benson – Arts and Crafts Brass Table Lamp with Serpent Tail

By W. A. S. Benson, a brass table lamp aligned to the Arts and Crafts movement (1880–1910), c.1900. Slender, slightly waisted column with a central knop and a small turned collar beneath the lampholder. Tripod base with lion paw feet and a bold serpent-style tail that curls upward from one foot; the tail terminates in a pierced tip designed so the lamp could be hung on a wall if required. Surfaces show an even brass tone with light age polish. Sold individually.
