French Mid-Century Wrought Iron Floor Lamp with Glass Table c.1960

£1,100

Floor lamp in wrought iron and glass, French origin, from the Mid-Century Modern period (1950–1970), c.1960. The lamp rises from three splayed legs that support a circular inset glass table at mid-height, with the central stem continuing upward to hold the light fitting. The ironwork is hand-forged and features subtle scrollwork and a textured hammered finish, reflecting the craftsmanship of French decorative metal ateliers of the post-war period.

By integrating a table within the lighting structure, the maker created an object that is both practical and sculptural. The hand-forged quality of the wrought iron and the clarity of the glass top reveal the artisanal skill and elegance that characterised French domestic design of the 1950s and 60s.
