Compact planter in oak with copper bindings, aligned to the Arts and Crafts movement (1880–1910), c.1910, Glasgow School. Presented as a planter (jardinière), the splayed legs and circular cut-outs to the tops establish a clear vertical rhythm suited to a hallway or window bay. A visible construction cue is the copper banding across the sides, with the leg splay providing the principal structural character; the scale is modest and upright. Within the broader current of British vernacular design, the Glasgow tendency toward restrained geometry is evident, yielding a spare, purposeful profile. The form reads cleanly from every side, appropriate for a small entry, conservatory, or window bay.
