Tear Drop Vaseline Glass Shade with Stylised Peacock Feather Motifs c.1900

£1,000

Glass shade in Vaseline glass from the Arts and Crafts Movement (1880–1910), c.1900. The elongated tear drop form is decorated with acid-trail decoration forming stylised peacock feather motifs. The glass has a translucent yellow-green tone with opalescent highlights and a soft uranium fluorescence under UV light. The form is finished with a rounded finial and an 8.5 cm fitting hole suitable for large oil or early electric galleries.

The design reflects the Arts and Crafts ideal of natural form rendered through material process. Its organic curves and controlled glass trails evoke the peacock feather motif associated with Liberty and Co, blending aesthetic symbolism with technical mastery.
