c.1900. A Vaseline glass shade of mushroom form, its softly rounded body flowing into a narrow neck and flared rim. The surface shows subtle green and blue opalescence with a gentle uranium luminescence under ultraviolet light. Typical of the Arts and Crafts Movement’s experimentation with hand-blown coloured glass, the shade combines restrained organic shaping with a distinctive material glow characteristic of early twentieth-century British decorative lighting.
