Arts and Crafts – Hammered Brass Lantern with Opaque Ribbed Glass Liner, c.1905
£1,200
An Arts and Crafts lantern in hammered brass, aligned to the Arts and Crafts movement (1880–1910), c.1905. The domed cap carries a large suspension ring and a scalloped visor. Four thick strap brackets sweep down in sinuous S-curves, each with curled terminals and riveted lugs that clasp the original opaque ribbed glass liner. A circular lower ring with small ball-head fasteners retains the glass securely. The surfaces show hand planishing and an honest workshop patina. The form is compact and well-balanced, suitable for halls, porches or clustered installations.
With original opaque ribbed glass liner. I also have another one in stock, identical but twice the size.
