Collinson & Lock Attributed, Aesthetic Movement Mahogany Armchair
Price on Application
This item is price on application due to its rarity and importance.
Collinson & Lock attributed armchair in mahogany, with a velvet seat. Aesthetic Movement (1860–1890), c.1870, English, Victorian. Compact wraparound form intended for desk, library, or occasional seating, with a continuous curved back and broad arms set over incised uprights.
This variant differs from the other we have online, with a single-piece curved back panel with stepped returns and a brown velvet seat finished with a close-set studded border. The seat sits slightly proud to allow for the decorative arched apron sections that meet the low stretchers tying the tapering legs, with subtle incised line detailing, keeping the silhouette light while maintaining a grounded stance.
The quality of this armchair is a step above.
