Collinson & Lock, attributed, armchair in mahogany. Aesthetic Movement (1860–1890), c.1870, English, Victorian. Compact wraparound form intended for desk, library, or occasional seating, with a continuous curved back and broad arms set over incised uprights.

This variation is defined by the open, double shaped back and arm rail, formed with a curved top rail and an inner sweep that frames the uprights, giving a lighter, more articulated profile than the panel-back example. The seat sits slightly proud of the tapering legs to allow for the decorative arched supports that meet the stretchers, with subtle incised line detailing

The quality of this armchair is a step above.
