Birmingham Guild of Handicraft, Attributed – Arts and Crafts Copper Scrollwork Chandelier
£7,500
Attributed to the Birmingham Guild of Handicraft, a hand-hammered copper chandelier aligned to the Arts and Crafts Movement (1880–1910), c.1905. This lighter-toned example displays a pronounced flaring upper canopy with raised hammered texture and small riveted details that mark the join between the top dome and the wide plate beneath.
The cylindrical midbody is encircled by a band of lens-like glass roundels set within pressed metal frames. From this central band emerge five hand forged arms that roll outwards into broad spirals, each terminating in divided scroll ends. The arms lift slightly as they extend, creating a floating effect around the lower edge of the chandelier. The wiring path runs through the upper recess between arm and body, allowing the cable to exit neatly for pendant shades to hang below.
This version has a lighter copper finish and retains a bayonet-style lampholder, with wiring required prior to installation.
A second example of this chandelier is also available, identical in form but with a darker copper finish, click here
The chain shown in the photographs is for display only. We can supply a longer chain or alternative hanging arrangement to suit the installation.
