Dr Christopher Dresser (manner) – Rare Aesthetic brass five-arm chandelier

£5,800

A rare brass five-arm chandelier aligned to the Aesthetic Movement, c.1880, in the manner of Dr Christopher Dresser. The structure rises from a turned and knopped stem with pierced and stylised floral elements, issuing five scrolling branches that support candleholders later adapted for electric bulbs. The composition balances linear economy with botanical ornament, characteristic of Dresser’s treatment of natural forms and of Anglo-Japanese Aesthetic. Presenting a clear, symmetrical plan and a disciplined decorative vocabulary, it reads as an elegant architectural focus above a dining table or hall.
