Margaret Gilmour School – Arts & Crafts Brass Planter with Galleon Scene

£450

Brass planter in the Margaret Gilmour school, aligned to the Arts & Crafts movement (1880–1910), late phase c.1900–1910 in character. The body shows a crisp pressed and chased scene of a galleon at sea with a rising sun; below runs a repeating band of stylised pods above a separate base ring. A softly flared, rolled rim completes the silhouette, motifs and handling consistent with Scottish Arts & Crafts metalwork associated with Gilmour’s Glasgow circle. Practical as a cache-pot; use a glass or plastic liner to protect surfaces.
