French Vaseline Hanging Light with Stylised Floral Decoration c.1900

This French Vaseline glass hanging light was produced around 1900 and reflects the union of Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts ideals. The translucent blue-green Vaseline glass shade is mould-blown with stylised floral motifs that rise in relief from the base, the upper rim flaring softly into fluid organic contours.
Its naturalistic decoration and lustrous tone capture the essence of French Art Nouveau Naturalism, where form and ornament emerged directly from nature. The original copper mount with leaf-edged detail enhances the material warmth and authenticity of this decorative period lighting piece.
