Bretby Pottery (Attributed) – Green and Yellow Glazed Candlestick c.1900

£275

Candlestick in earthenware, attributed to Bretby Pottery, from the Art Nouveau movement (1890–1910), c.1900. The tall tapering column rises from a wide domed base and culminates in a shallow drip tray, the entire surface covered in blended green and yellow glaze flowing downward to accentuate its organic form. The low-relief pattern and shaded surface treatment convey the naturalism central to Art Nouveau ceramics produced in Britain around 1900, combining utility with the decorative abstraction characteristic of the period.
