Jones & Willis – Pair of Gothic Revival Heavy Brass Castellated Candlesticks

£1,200 / set

A pair of brass candlesticks, Gothic Revival, by Jones & Willis. Each with castellated nozzle, turned column, and pierced circular base with ringed mouldings.

This pair of candlesticks, by Jones & Willis, exemplifies the Gothic Revival idiom of the late nineteenth century. Each is cast in heavy brass, rising from a circular base pierced with quatrefoil motifs and moulded in graduated tiers. The cylindrical column is defined by ringed turnings and culminates in a castellated nozzle, echoing the architectural ornament typical of ecclesiastical fittings of the period.

Jones & Willis were among the leading manufacturers of church metalwork in Birmingham and London, producing a wide range of liturgical furnishings noted for their craftsmanship and structural clarity. The pierced decoration seen here is characteristic of their approach to Gothic design.

The surfaces retain an even tone and soft patination consistent with age, and the condition is stated as good. Presented as a matched pair.
