Liberty & Co. presents a rare and unusual Moorish oval eight-leg side table with a brass removable top embossed with a medieval lioness holding a sword while her cub feeds from her. The upper section features eight arched fretwork panels, with the fine turned legs uniting the lower shelf raised Moucharabieh turnings within a gallery running around the sides. The legs have a double raised turned detail below and above the lower shelf, a subtle detail taking them to elegant slender sabre feet. A similar table is illustrated in "Liberty's Furniture 1875-1915: The Birth of Modern Interior Design" by Daryl Bennett (Illustration 1.36).
