Troika – Glazed Earthenware Spice Jar | Dickinson's Real Deal

£275

Troika glazed earthenware spice jar aligned to British Studio Pottery, c.1960s–70s. The bottle-form body has a white glossy glaze to the neck and shoulders above a textured relief panel with geometric motifs, the lower section stained in earthy oxides. This small jar is one of Troika’s named forms and reads as a concise example of the workshop’s sculptural approach developed in St Ives and later Newlyn.

Surfaces show the contrast Troika favoured between smooth glaze and roughened relief, giving strong graphic presence at small scale. Typical for the period and model; a neat addition to a focused Troika group or a single accent on a shelf.

Tony Geering bought this on Dickinson's Real Deal.
