William Hutton – Arts and Crafts Hammered Silver Three-Handled Bon Bon Dish

£1,250

By William Hutton, a bon bon dish in silver aligned to the Arts and Crafts movement (1880–1910), c.1908, from a British silversmithing workshop. The shallow bowl shows a hammered surface with even planishing, rising on a stem and circular foot with three opposing loop handles for lifting. The compact scale suits dining table or sideboard service, and the clear, tool-worked surface is typical of Arts and Crafts metalwork.

Within the movement’s table silver, the restrained form and visible handwork place this example in the mainstream British tradition of functional domestic pieces, prioritising honest construction and unobtrusive ornament.
